Perennial Yuletide problems

(1) I can't suggest that prompt! What if I want to write it one day?

(2) Obviously I should be writing and posting that fic now, but obviously I can't in case I should do it for Yuletide, when it could get more readers. /procrastinates

Of course I could just write and hold off posting (2), and yet...

My secret shame for #2 is that I'm hoping that the person who made the request I couldn't finish as a treat last year will request the same fandom/prompt again, because I don't want to write NYR fic when I could get more readers from a treat posted this year! (It's about 25 percent written but sketched out in full, and I could bang out the rest without too much worry if I knew that the recipient wanted it again....)

Suggest it and then write it too? The other person will do it completely differently anyway...
(Although if you're not doing Wimsey I suspect there's no fandom I'm actually egging you on in :) )

I don't have the second problem, due to having no ideas :(

But what if they did it the same? What if they did it different but better? Yeah, it's stupid really. For stuff I've actually started writing/got extensive notes on, then holding back on being too specific seems sensible, but not for ideas that are just maybes.

I think I won't be requesting Wimsey this year, because Wimsey is high stakes and I want to lower them, and I want not to offer it for the same reason. But it is possible that I may yet, on account of I may back out of offering some of the slightly scarier things that I've thought of, like Deutschland 83 (seriously, I must be insane to be thinking of offering that, and yet)....

But you should always write more Wimseyfic! (I may just have solved my third request problem, actually, even if I know it won't be yours :) )

I'm waiting to see what Heyer comes through before I think about offers, though.

I do want to write more Wimseyfic! Just not the random one I get assigned for Yuletide. I've not tended to find the prompts particularly inspiring. I'll have a look for Madness, though.

I hadn't thought of offering Heyer, but that could be a lot of fun!
