The subjunctive mood is Konjuctiv II, me hearties!

For the second time in my life I am doing homework making up German sentences in the conditional tense about how I want to study polar bears. Well, it saves imagining new scenarios, and I thought that "If I were a vampire, I would suck blood" might not be the best choice, even though it is one I can actually do without having to look up any words or how to decline the sodding articles.

It is, of course, impossible for me to think of the conditional without thinking of the Million Pound Radio Show pirates training day sketch.

I greatly appreciate any post that can distinguish between tense and mood, but one that include a funny link is even better.

If only more grammar came with comedy pirates... I needed to share my triumph. It followed valiant efforts against various demon authors of course/grammar books and random pages on the internet who appear to think that you only need to mention one of them and if you just call everything in that section either the subjunctive or the conditional, and use mood and tense completely interchangeably, it will be fine. I disagree!
