To see the beech trees hung with, er, green.

It's not that I didn't have a lovely walk through Wytham woods. Although the bluebells were not really out, and the trees were showing that it is in fact still quite early in the year, there were primroses and cowslips, red kites, and little lambs. It's just that I didn't mean to walk about fourteen miles. The main reason for this is that I didn't realise it was five miles to the car park. Still, it was very pleasant, and next time I'll drive to the car park and save the fourteen mile walks for occasions where I'm not on tarmac most of the time. Anyway, it was sunny and warm, with a slightly cool breeze, hazy sky, and altogether a very Housman-like day.

Good lord, 14 miles! Where did you actually park? Wolvercote?

I used to go running in Wytham Woods. They're very beautiful (and the bluebells are spectacular when they come).

I didn't get the car out at all, so walked from a bit beyond Wolvercote Cemetary. I did look at the map before setting out, but was so keen not to overestimate that I rather underestimated...

The woods were lovely, though, and definitely set to be a regular destination. I'm impressed you went running there - they are pretty hilly!

(Speaking of outdoor activities, how was the spa?)

I was a very impressive runner in those days - I used to run three times a week for over an hour (though I HATED the hilly bits).

The spa was gorgeous. I keep meaning to post about it, but am hindered by being too lazy to find the widget that lets me upload pictures from the camera.

That is dedicated. I occasionally tell myself I'll get into running again, but I've been saying it for twenty years and it doesn't seem to take.

Such widgets are annoying, but glad the spa was good. I shall await pictures with interest.

I think they're all of mountains. The scenery was fabulous. But I wouldn't hold your breath - since I've gone over a week without posting any of them, the chances that I will feel an urge sufficiently desperate to overcome my laziness in the future are remote.
