If you fold and hem the lining on the inner line, then the channel for the ears abuts but doesn't overlap it, and you could slip a filter in there (I will show you the one I did like that, if it doesn't make sense). I am tempted not to bother with that for the next, though I do wonder if it helps the gathers on the cheeks to have the channel made of only the one layer of fabric.
