My own experiences, and those of friends, lead me to believe that's a fairly typical husbandly reaction. My ex nearly fainted when told I was going to need an emergency c-section. Mind you, he recovered pretty damn quick when stern midwife told him if he dared to they'd simply kick him in a corner and get on with tending to the most important person in the room (yours truly) :-).
