Winter Draws On

It was dark - really dark - by 7pm! Where did September go?

I have noted before that the UK is not the only country that experiences Traffic Chaos with the first snow of the year. Norway is doing it again.

I have been canny and bought an electric blanket before the rush. I shall apply for my bus pass next week.

It was seriously dusky by the time I left the office, which did not make me happy at all!

Getting up to start work at 5 (OK sometimes this involves proofreading in bed) is becoming increasingly difficult when dawn feels a long way off.

Still not as bad as teaching English one-to-one to 3 silent Finns before the half hour of daylight turned up.

I cannot imagine getting up to start work at 5. Not least because I can barely get out of the house by half-past eight.

One might wonder how Finns ever learn to speak at all...

Well my desk is 3 feet from my bed. I'm fine, it's getting three children, their coats, shoes (preferably on the right feet) two book bags, one nursery bag, two PE kits and (today) a small cello out of the house by half-past eight that's the problem.

Finns don't speak.
