The problem was that once Peter was being embarrassed and Harriet was being annoyed I didn't know where to take it - I didn't want to do standard hurt/comfort, but I didn't want it to end badly, either, and a holding pattern is just boring. So Harriet being the one to propose was suddenly a solution and allowed Harriet to be both nice and irritated.

Far better now than at the end of the honeymoon.
Oh, I'm sure there's still much wibbling and angst to come, though hopefully H. will be able to say "OK, you don't have to confide in me, but whatever it is you're trying to achieve with the meaningless sex will you please just say?" Though to be fair to Peter, I noticed the other day that he does have a stab at saying something in the car, when he's saying that he's frightened of lots of things and Harriet will find out. But it evidently doesn't take.
