Umm

I have spent much of today trying to finish a dress I started about a year ago. I have finished the annoying facing, set two sleeves, joined skirt and bodice, and put in a zip. It fits, it looks nice, there's just one thing.

It had not struck me until I was trying it on for length that a knee-length, high-necked dress in foxglove and foliage patterned Varuna wool in brown, green, and sort of orange/fawn tones can look really quite, well, seventies...

Things that "only" need a button are capable of sitting around for years.

Mine is in purple and green stripes and I have recurring doubts about those. It could all go a bit Mrs Bradley on a dressing up night.

I have no idea about the revolting child. In The Battle of Wednesday Week the American 16 year-old step-daughter gets stopped by the police when she borrows the car to get more fabric for the shirt she's making her new step-sister because she's sewn a sleeve in back to front. I prefer this representation of sewing skills in children's literature.

I blame not really having enough space. When I have enough space no doubt I shall blame something else.

I can see that purple and green stripes could go either way.
