I was glad it started in September so I got to do the first couple of weeks before I was dark. 6:30 - 8:30 isn't too painful at the time, though it does leave me rather wiped out the next day. Less literally than climbing, though! That sounds fun to have a go at, certainly it's something to challenge yourself with.
