Eurovision 2025 campaigning

I am not a big Eurovision fan, but for once I'm reccing a song. More specifically, I mean a silly comic song with a catchy tune despite being in a Finnish-Swedish dialect, very cleverly done, and generally I think that this year's Eurovision Song Contest should be won by KAJ: three Finns competing for Sweden with a song in praise of saunas. I know this because [personal profile] antisoppist and I watched the final of Sweden's Melodifesten competition on Saturday. 12 songs, whittled down from 30 in the semi-finals, from 2000 entries. This was the sole one in Swedish, and apparently Sweden's first non-English entry since 1998. Apparently certain stalwarts of the Swedish Eurovision circuit are very unhappy. Diddums. This is an excellent, bonkers song that's actually memorable, and Måns' entry was very professional, very dull, and didn't deserve to win.

Anyway, you should vote for Bara bada bastu:

With English subtitles.

I am also delighted by their

Version 1, on the consequences of driving without winter tyres

Version 2, on taking the ferry to buy cheap alcohol in Estonia.

"Nissan bromsa" cracked me up as of the title ;D

That's a true Eurovision Title. Terry Wogan would be proud of it. It's completely bonkers, it has a catchy melody and I've watched it three times and will play it to my partner as soon as he comes home, just to spread the love.

I am totally not checking them out on iTunes.

It’s amazing! We caught it on YouTube shortly after they won. I still have to listen to the rest, but yes, the Swedish one is already a strong contender for my vote :)

This is the only song from this year that I've listened to multiple times. And "Nissan bromsa" is so brilliantly done.

Ha ha, it takes DW to tell me what is the Swedish Eurovision winner. I've only seen a few songs of one of the semi-finals, when I was at a friend's house, because they have kids.

Anyway, I agree! A+ funny and memorable song, I wish it luck! Also, gives a new excuse for the scantily clad dancers.

OK, so that was brilliant! I'm very taken by the dancing as well as the singers and I hope it will soon be available with Swedish subtitles so I can appreciate it in its full bonkers glory. I also really liked Nissan bromsa but there is something very weird going on with the Swedish subtitles on that one.

Oooh, have just seen that the version with English subtitles actually has Swedish and Finnish ones too!

And to think you never used to watch it...

My half-Finnish children are horrified that they are going to have to vote for Sweden this time. But they are definitely voting for Sweden.

But a lot of the words sound like standard Swedish (to my admittedly not highly-attuned ears). Perhaps it's a sort of local pride to transliterate the dialect even when it isn't strictly necessary?
