It's light outside + Tufty the Squirrel sighting

Though not as light as in my parents' spare bedroom, in which my mother had inexplicably decided that she would take down the curtains and just have the blackout up because that would work better. It didn't. Oh well, I slept well for two of the three nights, once the issue had been remedied with emergency clothes pegs.

I have seen a red squirrel! Sadly I did not photograph the red squirrel, but it was there, at the RSPB's Loch Leven nature reserve. I've seen red squirrels before on holiday, but I think this was my first in the UK.

How are we now half-way through May? Finally I am nearly over the latest cold, although this did not prevent my having my precipitous exit from a meeting this afternoon to hare down the corridor and cough disgustingly in the solitude of the disabled lavatory. Next to use not being lurgified to WRITE SOME DAMNED FIC!

I have Done Something to my ribs. I think it was the change in temperature less than a fortnight ago. Anyway, I have bruised, possibly cracked, ribs and they hurt like fuck. Possibly due to the first massive pollution sneeze of the summer. (I don't have hayfever - my triggers are entirely artificial scents and pollution.)

And G remains unreasonable and refuses to move to Edinburgh.

Ow, that sounds agonising! I hope the ribs don't take too long to mend.

I have to say, the Edinburgh air quality is so much better than Oxford, let alone London. I felt refreshed this weekend just breathing it.

I was complaining earlier that I can't go to sleep if it's DARK, and can't stay asleep if it's LIGHT. I need an elf to come in the middle of the night and shut my curtains for me.

You could get one of those devices that opens and closes curtains automatically (I think to deter burglars) to do it for you. Though it might be noisy.
