I feel that there is a certain irony

In Dominic Cummings complaining - giving zero evidence, zero indication he informed the police, and zero indication that he engaged with the security personnel he meets daily in his job for advice - that he had to go on holiday to avoid death threats from the Evil Mob, and people who raised questions about his behaviour (in this case bishops) actually getting death threats.

He has said he's planning to write to his M.P. about it. And I understand he's lucky to have a very good constituency M.P.

When Cummings was asked whether it was OK that MPs were receiving death threats over Brexit (bearing in mind that one had already been murdered, so some of those threats were definitely credible) his response was that they should change their votes. I am normally sympathetic to anyone who has a mob on their doorstep - it's happened to friends of mine and it's horrible - but I make an exception for him.

Senior politicians get doorstepped by mobs and receive threats all the time; the security may mean he doesn't have to be all that rationally, physically afraid of someone running up, beating seven bells out of him, *and getting away with it*, but the hypothetical attacker doesn't know they're bound to get caught, and may not be rational enough to care. I think he really does have some reason to be afraid (as do many people in public life, sadly), I just think it serves him bloody well right.

The death threats all appear to come from the same source (or at least use the same technique as the Tory "Ring-around-Dominic" What's app Group supportive texts use) since they're all very slightly modified versions of "Stay out of politics or die!"
