Grump. Weather

Given that I moan about never meeting new people (i.e. men), you'd have thought that nothing would have kept me away from the party I am supposed to be at this evening. Nothing but the fact that it is raining heavily, windy and cold, and my destination is an hour away, involving two buses and a walk in the middle, and I would spend as much time getting there and back as I would at my destination. Oh, and it's too far for a taxi.

This is ridiculous. I have a fortnight off work at Christmas, and will spend much of that at my parents' house. I think I may spend some of that time doing what I have oft talked of, and try to buy a car.

The weather is unspeakable. I'm rather glad I haven't had any occasion to leave the house today.

Is this a Freudian slip? The Desire that dare not speak its name, sneaking out unguarded?

I think my (former) lack of a car has been a major obstacle in meeting people. I just hate going out in the cold and the rain on public transport, and having to worry about the last bus home, or paying a fortune in taxi-fares.

I just can't wait to get my license so that I can actually use my little fiesta for more than practicing!

Most of the men I have met recently were gay or married. I cannot say that this is an improvement on not meeting any at all (well, that's not entirely true, but I expect you know what I mean).

I can heartily recommend Taruithorn banquets - that's where I met a ... well, woman, actually, but you know what I mean! ;-)

You clearly should have gone in spite of the awful weather conditions because you could have caught pneumonia, which would have forced you to stay at the house of your host, hopefully a single, young and wealthy bachelor, who'd have been touchingly concerned for your welfare while his bitchy sisters were secretly plotting to throw you out.

Or you could just have enjoyed a comfy night at your own flat.
