I shall make a note in my diary. You may assist by speculating on something amusing a short period in advance of the date.

I am shocked, shocked I tell you that you should insinuate that such a fundamentally straight, decent, honest, and utterly truthful young lady as Mary Wimsey could possibly have set up this entirely serendipitous occasion. Am I the sort of writer who would ever imply such a thing? Ahem. I can only hope that she also says at some point that she really likes small and coincidentally modestly-priced restaurants in Soho, and not those dreadful stuffy ones that other men drag her to, all crystal and champagne.

Parker has a vested interested in seeing something that Mary could like in Goyles, the better to fit in with his vision of her as marvellous. Personally, I reckon he must have been very good in bed and that it is a bit rich of Peter and his family to embarrass her over his failings, given what she could say if she liked about their own choices of young loves.
