I think the jumper you went in for turning out to be itchy means you are entitled, if not obliged, to buy something else instead to make the journey worthwhile.
Monty Don was doing bulb planting for Christmas the other day (everyone goes out or to bed and I get the telly to myself and then there is nothing even vaguely watchable apart from Gardeners' World) and I was inspired for a moment but then I thought it would end up like the Provincial Lady, who is always going "must plant bulbs" and never actually doing it.
