A very impressive Hail Mary pass by Nash, though I fear it won't be easy for Harriet's imaginary relationship with Rouse to distract people from Nash's very real relationship with Innes.
Boyes in the early days must have been much more charming and convincing than he's usually given credit for being. Harriet likely wasn't nearly as guarded pre-trial as she was post, and life in London may have been lonely, but she was never stupid and she did have principles she didn't want to break. I don't suppose there's much audience for fics about The Seduction Of Harriet Vane, starring the seemingly-dashing and principled Boyes, though.
