Not quite autumn, but very nearly

The geese are arriving. I put the bins out earlier this evening, before it was quite dark - it feels like it gets darker every night now, only three weeks until the equinox. It was so still that when skeins of geese flew overhead I could hear the beating and creak of their wings.

...heh, our geese are prepping to leave, but then Louisiana is...considerably...to the south...XD

I always think that they are preparing to leave, but then I remember that is the wrong way round, and at this time of year they are arriving.

Lovely geese! In our east-facing flat, it feels as though it gets darker earlier each evening - and, indeed, light later in the mornings!

It's always a bit of a shock when I return home from Edinburgh at this time of year as my parents' flat is south-west facing on a big sky view, but even so, it feels like the evenings are hurrying on now (and waking up to go to the loo in the middle of the night feels earlier than it is).

And this morning I had to turn the light on when I woke up - it was already 6:45, but it was dull and overcast. Unimpressed. Too autumnal for my taste!

Today is rubbish and feeling distinctly gloomy in an autumnal way.
