You know how it goes. You gaze into the abyss and the abyss gazes back and asks you for a date. Before you know it you're married with two kids and it's claiming to be working late at the office again, and not one of its tentacles has ever done the washing up.

*

It has been a long week and I am feeling absolutely shattered, a combination I think of stress and a slight bug. Lunchtime's planned walk post-supermarket and collecting shoes from the cobbler* was cancelled when I got outside and discovered that the bright sunshine was accompanied by a cold wind and the walk across the car park was quite enough. Oh well, it looks nice. I have discovered that Ralph Fiennes is in The Master Builder at the Old Vic. I think that profitable use of the afternoon may yet be found in booking tickets.

*Nothing improves a day like the realisation that the reason your foot feels a bit damp and cold is that your sole has a hole in it.

I managed to get out while the wind was fairly weak, just for a walk around Woodstock, but it seems to have picked up a little once more.

I don't miss being shattered; part of my lack of action this week has related to my apprehension of post-work exhaustion weeks after sitting at my parents' doing nothing much (though come to think of it I did write a lot of one of my TGW articles).

I had a pretty exhausting week myself - though more at the beginning than the end, which means I've sort of recovered by now.

Hope your ticket booking has gone well and that you're feeling revived.

Skiing holidays research is also very important!

I'm feeling fairly healthy, although my housemate seems to have come down with a bad cold, so it may be only a matter of time.

It's been a quiet weekend (good), with a visit to admire the spring bulbs in the botanical gardens. I did spend most of the rest of it sorting out my US taxes, but I've sent all my stuff off to the accountant now so am feeling some degree of achievement.

Bug and stress here too, with a bit of sleeplessness thrown in for good measure

Sleep has not been of its best here, either. It is not helpful! I hope you have managed a relaxing weekend.

Not too bad so far, thank you, although my reading matter (The Broken Trident, The Wake, and Stand on Zanzibar) is not of the cheeriest). How is your weekend going?
