Home from the Fjell

I’ve been offered a three month’s extension on the lease for my flat. Naturally, I am taking it. Whatever happens then, at least this sorts out now. I am going to celebrate by buying myself a new television and digibox. The present TV is 15 – 20 years old and can only be tuned via the video.

I had a brilliant skiing holiday, which was the usual dud on the living wildlife front (total, a solitary ptarmigan and a flock of ptarmigan), but included the ingestion of both reindeer and elk. We had a very good pair of instructors, and my downhill skills have improved immensely. I skied up Formokampen – a 500m climb (400m off-track) with a fantastic descent on which I might not have been fast, but I did remain upright, and I am now definitely at the ‘intermediate’ level (like swimming lessons – beginners, improvers, intermediate, advanced). Only 12 months until I get another go. Alas, I have no photos because I have a film camera and they’re still in it. You can gauge how late an adopter I am when it comes to technology by the fact that the above-mentioned new TV may be a cathode ray set ...
