Can anyone recommend a hotel/B&B in Venice (bookwormsarah yours looked lovely, but is full)?

The last time we were in Venice, we stayed at a youth hostel called Palazzo Zenobio that was fairly reasonable and incredibly cheap. In 2002, I stayed in a lovely hotel called the Hotel Lisbona that was about a five-minute walk from the Piazza San Marco but I remember it being somewhat on the pricey side.

SO jealous that you're going to Venice! I want to go back...

If you haven't read it I would recommend "Venice" by Jan Morris. Not really a guide book as such, more of a reflection capturing her/his love affair with the city, but will certainly lead you to all the places you should try and see interwovan with a sense of history. I'm so jealous!

Thanks - I have heard of that, but hadn't thought of it. No time before I go, but I shall have to get hold of a copy when I come home.
