as they are both such emotionally damaged people I'm amazed they ever got around to getting married at all Peter's very persistent! Though I tend to think that Harriet is a lot less damaged - her wounds are real, but her core is basically sound. She can heal and move on. Peter, under the urbane surface, is much more of a mess.
I have to be honest, you're unlikely to get me writing the wedding night in all its glory ;-) I'm more of a fade to black person.
