The precipitation forecast for tomorrow evening, which has been up and down like the proverbial, is now showing snow. May it remain so! It is also showing sleet at the end in typical English battle-of-the-fronts style, so if it snows early enough I may go out skiing before Borgen just in case, though this means pavements. I am enjoying Borgen very much, despite the subtitler’s apparent desire to get through the whole series translating all swearing as “For God’s sake”. When this is Scandinavian religious swearing, which is (a) stronger, and (b) doesn’t involve God, this is quite entertaining, but it does lack subtlety.

I see that Chris Huhne has been charged. Oh dearie me.

And much more than oh dearie me, I see that Pakistan’s first innings total of 99 was a cunning foreign plot to undermine the confidence of the English batsmen...

We've got no snow at all. It's really weird going up on the hill when it's minus 16 degrees, the sun is shining brightly and the ground is hard as iron but completely dry and brown. (When I say "we" I mean "those of us in my part of Austria" - some of the ski resorts have got 3 metres of snow - on the whole, I think I'd rather have no snow than 3 metres' worth). But something very strange is going on when Lower Austria is snowless and Oxford has enough that people can go skiing.

I saw that you were very cold, and western Austria was very snowy, but I didn't realise that you had none at all. That's very weird. Mind you, the Oxford snow has not yet arrived, and for "enough to go skiing" I'm hoping for 5cm...

We have no snow here - again, another winter in which southern England gets more snow than southern Ontario. Very, very strange.

And yes, this has been a very strange series for the batting, hasn't it?

We haven't got it yet, but I hope it is coming...

One can never over-estimate the ability of the English batting to lose from a seemingly impregnable position.

Has an edict gone out to subtitlers after too many "fucks" in The Killing? I am a week behind with Borgen but I have foiled iPlayer deleting things because I have it on the magic box.

My hill does not look like my icon yet. It is green and hard as a rock. It is certainly cold enough for snow, were the sky to decide to produce any. *clutches hot water bottle*

It must be an edict. I think I saw a "For heaven's sake" a couple of episodes ago (which was, naturally, for something hellish), but there is a definite absence of "fuck". I have been catching up on episodes of Borgen after missing a couple - one more tonight and I'm up to date.

I think you might be forecast rain...

I liked the comment on the BBC TMS site that Pakistan were going to try to get a hundred, and so avoid having to bat again ...

I'm hoping the snow holds off here until later in the evening, as the maps seem to suggest this morning. I'd like my train back from London to take a sensible amount of time to complete its journey.
