I am so tired I think that my brain may be dribbling out of my ears, but I can’t be bothered to stop it. I am also feeling somewhat annoyed at the prospect that all the northern snow may melt before I can get to it on Thursday, but I can’t change my holiday dates because I’ve got meetings either side. Grr.
From the Department of Irony, via the Guardian: the Battle of Towton has been cancelled due to the poor weather.
“This would have been a rare year when the commemoration coincided with the actual day of the battle, Palm Sunday. In 1461 the two armies fought for ten hours in a blizzard, and this year months of rain and snow have left the site completely waterlogged. The Towton Battlefield Society has sadly announced: "The weather forecast shows no sign of any improvement so we have decided that for safety’s sake we should cancel the event.”
Honestly, the weather gods have laid on a blizzard for them so they got both the day and the weather, you’d think they might be grateful!

Date: 2013-03-22 06:22 pm (UTC)I am being beaten by impenetrable Finnish grammar and have only managed to do any work at all by setting a timer for 30 minutes of concentration at a time and doing hoovering in between. I have until next Thursday and am 4000 words down on where I should be. And my mother has just arrived.
I have picked the daffodils before they are completely squashed flat by sideways wind.

Date: 2013-03-22 07:07 pm (UTC)Your day sounds possibly worse than mine - at least I got to spend the afternoon not doing anything much in a meeting. Though I do still have the hoovering to do, that is probably not as bad as 4000 words of Finnish.
I had not thought of just picking the daffodils. I will do it tomorrow before they are completely squashed by snow (I do not value them above not getting cold and wet now).

Date: 2013-03-24 09:13 am (UTC)Then again, I've had photos from Derbyshire in the last 24 hours, and Mum and Dad look to be well and truly snowed in. Their neighbour's had his Land Rover out to go feed the sheep, and it's already well covered again between him parking and Mum taking pictures.

Date: 2013-03-24 10:30 am (UTC)It does look quite bad up there. My parents are in Leeds (though luckily for them, on a road that gets ploughed early), and I am desperately hoping that it sticks around until Thursday when I'm going up to visit, so that I can ski on it. Annoyingly, I have a meeting on Wednesday afternoon, so I can't just go early.
