Enquiring minds want to know

Whether the Kate Mosse's novel Labyrinth is as bad as the first half hour of last night's television drama. Surely it can't be? Although if it also contains the line "They call you the toughest bitch in the pharmaceutical business" I don't hold out much hope. This happened shortly before the second advert break, and was the point of no return. Sex, violence, cardboard sets and corpses I can cope with as family viewing, but that level of script-writing is just embarrassing.

I am now attempting to theorise the significance of the TV version of Gaudy Night choosing to invent The Albigensian Mystery as a title for one of Harriet Vane's novels. What was she really doing in Carcassone - perhaps avoiding Peter's romantic interest and the press was just an excuse for her true purpose...
