Merry Christmas!

I am in my sister and brother-in-law's new home (they moved in as a family Wednesday, although the furniture had gone down mid-December and they had both done a lot of sorting out). I heartily recommend Cook!'s Christmas dinner for 8, which was fantastic. Alas, one thing that isn't fantastic is the temporary internet, thanks to which - and my failing to realise I needed to set it up first rather than last thing this morning - meant I failed to post to Yuletide Madness by about 2 minutes. Oh well, NYR it is. Such are the perils of a fic idea on Thursday lunchtime before a day of travel and several days of family onslaught. It is not an omen for 2023, it is the end of 2022, or possibly just the balance of the world resetting itself after I made all my train connections*.
Boxing Day today, so the Family Fun continues with a modest walk, the ham and baked potatoes, and a round robin table tennis tournament, table tennis being youngest nephew's latest obsession, and the former owners having left a table in the barn, which presumably could not fit in their new place in York.** While I needed to take medical time-outs in yesterday's match, I am feeling happy that I was far less tired yesterday than I was Christmas day last year without even under-10s, let alone the year before, so that's really encouraging. Though my brain is very happy not to go back to the office yet. I have a fortnight off still to go, and am looking forward to rest, relaxation, reading, trying out my new paint brushes, a trip to the cinema, and commenting on some fic. Plus some more writing, if I can. 2022 has not been one of the finest years of this or the previous millenium, but it is ending with good cheer, and hopefully 2023 can be a step up.

** Nor did a baseball set, some useful office furniture, or four chickens.
