Have been watching the Grand Prix Cup of Canada yesterday and today whilst doing the ironing. I wish I'd known that the kiss and cry was miked when I was writing In the Studio. Oh what opportunities missed!
It is very tempting. Alas the video of the Cup of Canada was without commentary, so I probably need to watch a live one with it to see how much the commentators talk over it.
I worked out that they don't bother with commentators after midnight. So - for Skate Canada - the ladies' and ice dance events have commentary, and the pairs' and men's don't.
But on the app, and possibly online as well, they give you the option of the Eurosport show (with commentary) or just the videos (without). So catch up requires some degree of attention, and I got all the way through Marin Honda's skate before I noticed it was a bit quiet.
Ah, mystery solved! Thank you! I was watching the men's. I watch online, and cross-country skiing is never after midnight because even the rare Canadian races will be in Canadian daylight, so you get the no commentary as the only option version really only when the whole race isn't being shown on the main channels (generally because it overlapped with something).
