The experience of preparing to get things done at work in order to be ready to go holiday rendering one in desperate need of a holiday. OK, I admit it would have helped if I had done the thing I spent all morning on a month or so a go, but there are reasons I didn't, namely that there were other extremely urgent things to do and I didn't have a spare day for this. Which is now both urgent and overdue.

Meanwhile I continue to fail to buy new walking shoes, which means I shall have to do even the easy walking in my leather boots, which are comfortable, but a bit over the top on some occasionas, and also the weather is looking a bit mixed. Of my travails with the Swiss railway ticket booking website, I shall not speak.

And finally, Good Omens fandom, I beseech you, can we call a halt to the every more tortuous attempts to come up with a cutesy name for Armageddon not having happened? It was funny the first couple of times, it has long since joined the sort of things that belong in an office party in Hell.

Not to mention calling Aziraphale "Zira". And then there is the WTF KNITTING?????? (and I speak as a dedicated knitter).

This can stay though.

Crowley regarded the invention of the office party as one of his greatest successes. It wasn't often that a demon managed to come up with something that had no redeeming features at all. Even the alcohol, warm, unpleasantly metallic, and drunk out of flimsy plastic cups that were almost guaranteed to ruin someone's shirt before the night was out, was penitence rather than pleasure. It was magnificent.

He just wished Hell hadn't caught on to the idea so fast.

Grimly, he refilled his glass (as above so below: the less attention paid to the buffet the better) and headed back to the throng.

Oh hell yes, the non-Armageddon thing is making me tired. I get why people are doing it because it's the sort of thing that canon would do, but. No.

Canon would do it once and let it go.

It's all far too reminiscent of life with a seven year old and a nine year old who are working out how jokes work from first principles.

It's a problem with fandom generally - anything which becomes a defining feature of the show, be it catchphrase or characteristic or whatever, even if it's mentioned only once or twice in passing, has to be referencedevery time. It's bad enough in a small fandom, but in a massive one it's just wearisome.
