18 months ago: Nineveh_uk finds wonderful summer meadow print cotton jersey fabric in Liberty sale and buys some.

Yesterday: Nineveh_uk listens to cricket and traces round M&S nightie to make a pattern.

Today: Nineveh_uk listens to last weekend’s Saturday play, cuts out fabric, and begins sewing nightie.

10 minutes ago: Nineveh_uk tries on nightie and discovers that it looks and fits very well - for a dress.

Nineveh_uk changes plans.

[Alert to anyone who likes both fabric crafts and scouting/guiding (or Swallows and Amazons) to this fabric. I have a cushion made out of it (it was there, and who was I to resist) and it's fab!]

A nightie dress! Perfection!

(I admit to thinking that a few - very few - of the Victoria's Secret nighttime attire would work fabulously as an uncomplicated dress...had I the nerve.)

Although it is a dress rather than a nightie because it is too small to be the latter, I stress that it is still knee-length and perfectly decent (sort of imagine this (http://www2.victoriassecret.com/commerce/application/prodDisplay/?namespace=productDisplay&origin=onlineProductDisplay.jsp&event=display&prnbr=8L-228404&page=1&cgname=OSSLPSHIZZZ&rfnbr=1185), but longer, v-necked and a bit tighter, with a more glamorous print). I used to want fancy nightgowns as dresses all the time when I was a child - thank heavens my mother refused!

I used a nightshirt/nightie pattern for the top when I made my shalwar kameez set a few years back. Plain, short sleeves, V neck ... worked perfectly.
