One for [personal profile] wellinghall, perhaps?

What might Lord Peter Wimsey hunt, shoot, or fish on foot, with only a couple of people, in Highland Scotland in 1927, at some point between November and March? Ideally in January/February. No financial, social, or technical limitations apply; canonically we know he fishes, shoots partridges, hunts foxes, and poaches rabbits.

For shooting, pheasant or partridge sound about right for the time of year, maybe through late January. I think salmon fishing season varies by river, rather than fixed season dates for the whole of Scotland.

Pheasant and partridge seasons both finish on 1 February (now; it was slightly different at the time, but not by much). Their numbers thin out the further north you go, though.
