They really are utterly gorgeous. But not, ultimately, the boots I need.
Yes! Still at Heyer on Saturday. I'm really looking forward to it, though I haven't read the books I meant to in advance. You will spot me easily by the dark curly hair.
I liked them more for their qualities as an artefact than wrapped around my legs
I've never phrased it quite that succinctly or elegantly, but yes: a sentiment that has saved me from a number of daring frocks, handsome hats, and unhealthily yet alluringly high heels. (That, and limited funds and even more limited social energy: I have yet to wear the red floorlength gown I picked up at a vintage store two summers ago, because right now I'd rather floss the dog's teeth than sit through the speeches and smile through the small talk inherent in that kind of formal occasion...)
More important, congratulations on Now Having the Boots That Were Meant to Belong To You. Will we get to see a picture of you gloating over them being yours modeling them?
There's a few things I have that I bought Because They Were There. But they were also a lot cheaper. My mind brought back to "the best boots right now" that proved in the end the buckles.
There may be a picture in the end, but not yet because my camera is in Leeds!
The buttoned boots are to die for but I have a pair of black boots that are sort of like the buckled ones and they are very versatile, and maybe the buttoned ones wouldn't be.
Good decision. Too often I buy something because I love it as an artefact, choosing to ignore in the shop that it really doesn't look good on me. Result being that when I get it home I end up not wearing it. I'm struggling with a beautiful pair of Church's ladies brogues which I have fallen for, but in my heart of hearts I know they won't look good at the end of my rather short legs! Will probably pass.
I liked the buttoned ones as artefacts, but sometimes things change so much when actually worn. If that happened here, you definitely made the right decision.
